It can be extremely frustrating to come home after a long trip only to find that the windows of your store have been tagged by some of the local kids in the area. The city that you live in is going to hold you responsible for getting rid of the paint. As a result, you are going to need to make sure that you're able to get the paint off as quickly as possible without destroying your glass.

1. Scrape Off the Bulk of the Paint

Go to your hardware store and find a paint scraper that is designed to be used on glass. Such scrapers will usually have the scraping tool surrounded by rubber in order to reduce the chances of scraper leaving scratches in the window. Use careful, forceful strokes to remove the bulk of the paint from your glass. This will allow you to uncover any scratches that the kids might have caused.

2. Scrub Out the Paint

There's a good chance that the kids who tagged your storefront windows scratched them in their artistic efforts. These scratches are unsightly, but are made worse by the fact that there is now paint inside of them. Before you will be able to fix the windows, you need to get the paint out of those narrow scratches. You can do this by applying the appropriate paint remover to a toothbrush and gently scrubbing the inside of the crack. If the crack is especially deep, you are going to need to be very careful because any excess force might cause your window to shatter.

If a generic paint remover is not doing the job, take a chip of the paint that you removed to a paint store and have them analyze it. They will be able to tell you the type of paint that was applied to your windows. With this information, you will be able to purchase a more specialized remover, increasing the chances that you will be able to totally remove all of the paint.

3. Secure Against the Future

Finally, if you are able to to leave again, or if a holiday is coming up where kids are going to be out at night and more likely to tag your building again, take vegetable oil and apply it to a paintbrush. Before you leave for the night, paint the outside of your window with the oil. This will make it much harder for the kids to get the paint to stick and is relatively easy to hose off in the morning.
